Yes, dump-truck, and a worn out dump-truck at that. Marc Thomas drove my car after we got back, and he agreed the ride quality and handling would drive anyone nuts in about 50 miles. He offered some options, but I still have to sort through what the hell happened to bring my car to this state, so that I can get the handling back. Swapping shock/springs, at least so far, has not worked. What's real funny is that after the last swap I could tell the suspension was awful before I got to the end of our block. Just the way it handled small irregularities in pavement was disturbing enough. Yes, if I can drive this thing around, I should be able to enter a Yugo into the next open road race and win.
Sorry to hijack the DEVEK DAYS thread. To bring it back on course, I will say the event worked out very well this year. The wash-and-shine that Iceman put together was a nice addition, even if most of us could guess the winner. The tech sessions were well-attended and I got a lot of inquiries about my DEVEK X-over while it was up on the rack as a demo car for Al the fab guy to use to illustrate the various exhaust options DEVEK provides. DEVEK's new alignment tech spent a lot of time looking at and talking about my suspension problems.
And all the free food and drinks, including the fermented kind, was very nice to have.
THANKS to Marc, Susan and the whole DEVEK crew for another fun-filled weekend.

Note: Bill drove my car around the block and said it handled equally bad as his. Hmmm... I never noticed anything unusual, only that it is tramlining a lot more than my Saab. I always attributed that to the wider tires...
Anyway, DEVEK Days rocked! As usual... And despite the change of date, the turnout was very good. The fact that the T-Shirts sold out is another indication of the event's success (more are being made, by popular demand)!
My friend Michelle had a blast learning about the cars, and riding in a Boxster, Bill Swift's 928S4, and Tareck's slant nose turbo. From the latter she emerged with that famous perma-grin, but complained about having "soft knees"... LOL!
Thanks, Bill Swift, for driving all the way from San Diego for the event. As always, it was great to have you here!

[QUOTE=Bill Swift]That's Tim and Cheryl's '88 ORR Beast, the one with the DEVEK "White Car" engine in it. You should hear it sometime... Tim is known as Tahoe Shark on the list.
After I posted my question I began to think that it might be Tim and Cheryl's car. I was thinking they would be registered in CA instead of NV.

what did he say about it? Its hard to imagine any major problems unless something was majorly wrong with something.

I wanted to add my thanks to Marc, Susan and everyone else involved with putting on this event. I had good time (didn't hurt to take home 1st in the wash and shine ) and enjoyed meeting people I only had "seen" online.

Mark:
We really still don't know the root of the problem. I ordered all new bushings. The rear bushing on the front lower A-arm (not replaceable) is compressed compared to new, but not obviously bad. None of the other bushings are visibly deteriorated, but they do have 170K miles on them. I'm going to assume the stock sport springs are weak too and look at upgrading, probably to Hypercoils. Still, it's puzzling how well George's car crusies and handles with Konis and stock springs, so that was the way I went too with a completely inferior result. Also, the Eibach/Bilsteins are not very good on my car - the car feels like a dump truck and handles about as well.
FURTHER RESPONSES ON THE SUBJECT OF MY SAD SUSPENSION SHOULD GO HERE .

The DEVEK team thanks everyone for making this 10th year event fantastic! Brian and Nicole really outdid themselves And Tom C manning the dyno....well, lets say the next donut is on me! Thank you!
Lots of folks help make this event happen and run smoothly, and we are greateful for such a great group of friends. It was a pleasure meeting and talking to everyone.
We had a total around 80 cars and served a few hundred burgers...a big thanks to Jim and Al for the awesome burger flipping.
When we had the first gathering way back, we never even wondered where it would go, we did it to just get folks together. We never thought it would catch on and become a national event, hosted by many different entities. Never thought it would bring together so many friends!
To all the friends of DEVEK - Thank You!
All the Best,
DEVEK

Great shots George, as usual! I am especially fond of Sunday Fun Drive pic's #'s 164,165 & 166... you can just hear Tarek asking "That's not a stock engine, is it?".
