Joe,

What did you go with on your antenna amplifier situation? Seems like all of mine are dead at this point. Love to actually be able to listen to some radio when I'm out of town from time to time...

The Pioneer CD reciever I have now doesn't have the IP Bus feature to allow a Pioneer CD changer to be added, so everything would have to be changed.

Installing the one Nakamichi unit will be a whole lot simpler.

Now to find a replacement for the antenna amplifier. Has anyone done that? I suspect that mine is broken and I found an inexpensive alternative called Best Kits AB150.

Anyone have experiance in upgrading or replacing the antenna amplifier? Photo attached of the proposed unit.

VTY,
Joe

I went for a plain look until it turns on
GPS, DVD, USB, Blue tooth, Rear cam and it plays music

The speakers are JL Audio XR653-CS ( XR653-CSi )
XR-Series 6-1/2" + 4", 3-way Component System

Quite a thread revival here, but it is an interesting topic. Very intersting to see what all the people find. The Naks look pretty good in my opinion.

Nonetheless I can't help but post the pic from stereo "cleaning install." There were many feet of excess wire I stipped out that it only confirmed that all PO stereo installs are a fire risk. Finally, I got some real Blaupunkt replacement cables and an iPod connector kit (www.youngtimerradio.de) and got the wiring back to virtually stock with the original amp and Hans' speakers. And a really cool classic look that fits perfectly to the 928.

Nice. If someone were to break in, you can sweat the clock more than the stereo!
Just kidding, looks great-- that'll prompt me to go look in the shoebox of original stuff that came with/from my car. THink I'll stick with aftermarket though. How's the original do with driving the high-end drivers in the door?

Edit: found mine was/is a Monterey SCR-23...wow, the ebay prices~~

Well, about the clock, yes and no. The radio is actually worth nothing, unless you are looking for one. Then it is impossible to find and expensive. I was on the look out over a period of 10 years and picked up 4 of them at good prices.

I like the shortwave bands, because I like listening to political propaganda (from other countries) when I am driving at night. Difficult to replace that, but shortwave is getting rather empty what with the WWW and all.

When playing music, it sounds good, although the stereo in my 9-3 (OEM) does sound better. Then on the other hand, my 9-3 does NOT have an RMB. :-) In the end, it is all about what makes us happy...
