Default Check Valve in Oil Filler Neck

While disassembling the top end of 86.5, I noticed a PCV style check valve inside one of the hoses connected to the oil filler neck. I could not find this part in PET anywhere. Should this be there? If so, should there be one in both hoses connected to the oil filler neck? HELP!

I need to follow this string as my '85 had a similar sounding part inserted into a hose, not sure off hand if it was the same one. I was thinking it was a PO installed "fix" because some of the hoses were mis-connected. I got new hoses but have not gotten that far in my assembly process yet.

Looks like the "safety valve" was put there by Porsche.
