I'm still planning on doing it. Just waiting on the opportunity to see a finished product on a car before letting my car go under the knife. Now theres a new style hinge in the works from another company that looks promising. Its still in its prototype stage so it will be a little while on that one. Most likely I will use the butterfly doors on one car and the new style hinges on the other. At least thats the plan.

The local hot rod shop that did some interior work for me also installs the "lambo" doors.....they open normally a little bit...then pivot up & forward...... The owner really wanted to install a "kit" on my 928....for a bargin basement $4k

I think the best possibe door for a 928 would be a suicide door....it just makes perfect sense.

I agree with ceedee. I think suicide doors are too dangerous at speed in a collision. Lambo doors make more sense, if at all, as the body attachment and flex points remain basically the same.

That is unless you land up side down!! A Countach rolled one year at the Virginia hill climb and the guy couldnt get out because the doors wouldn't open. Could suck if it caught fire.

Thus the "if at all" qualification! Most of the lambo door mods I've seen slide the door out in its normal direction before travelling upwards. All it takes is a small crack in the right direction and one should be able to kick the door out, assuming your legs aren't broken.

And besides, I don't like to think about my car ever landing on its roof! Ignorance is bliss.

As stated before. If your car lands on its roof, theres a good chance the doors wont open no matter what type of door you have. Although I could see it confusing the rescue team who comes to help. They could waste valuable time trying to get the door to open in the wrong way.

I suppose you just need to make sure you don't land on your head. Widebodies should be less prone to flipping onto the roof.

I like the vert doors the best!

But it would take more than 2 hours to install them on a Porsche.
