A new (to me) 1989 has surfaced!
This blue one is currently on display on the Porsche 928 Club Deutschland's stand at the Essen Techno Classica.
It was sold to the current owner just before the fair.
So, here is the situation regarding the 7 1989 build:
- 5 survivors (4 in good to very good condition, 1 very tired after many years of racing!). They are all in Europe.
- 1 destroyed.
- 1 is still to find!
I also have the complete list of engine and gearbox numbers of all production CS & SE's. There are some strange "holes" in the gearboxes range, both for 1988 and 1989 model-year...

The GTE is still a mystery.
What I know for sure:
- When it was produced, the first production CS were already on the road.
- The gearbox number indicates this is really a prototype.
- I have the confirmation, from Manfred Kremer, that Kremer racing did the body kit. But that is the only thing that they have done. Sadly, Ervin Kremer who was the one of the brothers that really enjoyed the 928 has passed away.
- The car has the exact same configuration as the 1989 GT prototype that was quite recently found in Spain. This one has a CS engine and gearbox.
- It was delivered to Porsche AG.
So, I think this car may really be a prototype of the future GT.
I don't know if the Cup rims are original or not.
But I'm 95% sure that it wasn't delivered with all the markings on the back!
Now, I will try to find the current owner, to get more information, and I have also found someone who has access to the Porsche's archives. The problem is that a lot of things from this period are lost, according to him.

Not really an update, but I have information to share with you, and request for a help.
First of all, the first 4 production cars were in fact produced way before the official introduction of the model:
wp0zzz92zjs845061, Euro model, produced at the end of June 1987
wp0zzz92zjs845062, Euro model, produced at the end of June 1987
WP0JB0922JS865061, US model, produced mid-June 1987
WP0JB0924JS865062, US model, produced mid-July 1987
So the very first customer car may in fact been wp0zzz92zjs845063, produced in March 1988.
Now, I still need to find the two US cars!
If anybody has an indication to them, don't hestitate to contact me!
WP0JB0922JS865061
Red car with black interior. Seats and doors in black with cloth inserts, pin stripe flannel-Black\anthracite.
WP0JB0924JS865062
Red car with grey/green interior. Seats and doors in grey/green with cloth inserts, Porsche script cloth in grey/green
Thank you in advance!

A very important (to me at least) update...
I have found and bought wp0zzz92zjs845063, the first real customer car. The four previous production cars were in fact factory cars.
It is in really bad condition with the original engine missing but this is a real 1988 CS.
The car is still in Germany (I haven't seen it in person yet) but I should manage to have it in my garage quite soon.
I already have the specific spare parts to restore it properly, but it will certainly be long.
I don't mind
Samuel

Well, this will be an interesting project. I will add pictures as soon the car is at home (during the month).
Anyway, here is my current view of the production cars:
- 6 of the 12 1988 MY (10 Euro+2 US)
- 6 of the 7 1989 MY (Euro only)

Congrats, Samuel! Looking forward to the pics, I'll add them to the car's entry in the Registry if you don't mind.
