Default I just did some calculations, And I cant go to SITM this year..

So the location for SITM is almost exactly 700 mi from me. Worst case scenario I average 15 mpg driving there, so take (700mi/15mpg)x$3.40 (expectd cost of premium fuel month from now) is $159. double that and add the cost of one room, I'm sitting at $393. That doesn't include gas costs while driving around once arrived, and lost income from days taken off. I didn't realize how muchi it would cost until I actually added it up. I spent all my extra cash getting the car back together, and it still needs a couple things before I would be ready to go. This sucks. Well, I guess being a Cubs fan I know this feeling, and its called there's always next year.

Borys-
You still have a month to gather the money. There has to be some way for you to raise a few extra hundre dollars. I just had this discussion with Chaad and told him that he will kick himself if he doesn't go. You cannot beat SITM! I'd even advise to take out a small personal loan if that's what it took in order to go. Seriously. It's the best time you'll have with your shark!

I would bet there are alot of people who are thinking the same. I am one of them. My big problem is that I have to be in VA the weekend before for a wedding. So I'm thinking about driving to VA first, staying the whole week and then driving to SITM. But thats a ton of driving. My shark makes my lower back hurt after 45 min. I can't imagine it after 11 hours. Yikes.

BTW. Don't forget to factor in beer money and the potential speeding ticket you may get while on the fun drive.

You could use regular gas for the trip and use premium once you got there. Perhaps that could bring the cost down a bit.

I feel your pain, brother. I had planned on making the trip this year, but an already committed out-of town work trip happens to end the day before SITM begins and is also one of my son's birthdays. This also had me wrapped up last year (will again this year) and will most likely next next year, unless the date changes. So, at this point, the best I can hope for is SITM '08. Good luck and I hope you can work it out!

I've had back problems for years. My shark is one of the few cars I've driven that doesn't make me suffer on a long drive. I dreaded the drive home from Co. when I bought it because I just knew I would be hurting. Maybe it was the adrenaline kickin in, but it was 3 days on the road and barely any pain at all.

Funny you should say this. I've got lower back pain, too. The 928 is the only vehicle that still feels good even after long drives. My wfe think's I'm just making excuses to drive the 928 more.

Me too - maybe I'm just lucky but long periods driving the Shark are entirely pain free. After 5 hours in my truck - I feel like layng down for the rest ofthe day... 8 hours is the GTS to sharktoberfest and I felt fine. The adjustable lumbar (fully deployed and at the right height) seems to really help.

If you don't travel out of your home area much, I think you might be surprised at how much less gas costs in some places. I guarantee you that gas will cost less than what you're paying in your area for pretty much the entire way down there.

If you can't use regular for just cruising down the highway to get there, what about mid-grade?

Borys, around here and in Virginia gas prices are getting lower, not higher. Gas here was 2.85 yesterday (2.99 a week ago) and my father paid 2.78 on I-95 in Virginia two days ago (2.92 a week ago). That's for regular, but 14-20 cents more for premium is still only $3. Gas on I-81 is even cheaper. Find somebody to share a room. You'll regret not going.

Hey Borys, I'll buy you a beer when you get there. That should help cover some of your expenses. Hope you make it. I'm sure it'll be worth every penny and then some.
