Default Update from the front...

before anyone yelps that this should be in the off topic forum, I want to say it's you 928 guys (and gals) I want to read it, so I am posting here...

I am back in Iraq now, just getting settled in... half way there, so in 6 months I'll be home for good (well, for more than 2 weeks anyways). I had an amazing time back home with my close friends and family. Although the issue with my car was never resolved, I still wanted to thank everyone for thier help in attempting to get her back on the road... things just didnt come together this time. I am pushing the issue to the back shelf for now, as I am nearly positive it is a drivetrain issue... the car is going in to be painted in the next few months.

I know it may not be wise to forgoe getting the car roadworthy again in order to have a pretty paintjob, but I am looking at the fact I will be damned to have dropped 10k into this car and not at least SEE some of that money looking back at me. if I hold of on the paint now, I dont kow when the next time I will have that kind of disposable income hanging around... whereas the mechanical issues I am now experiancing I am fairly sure I can peice together with whatever spending money I have back stateside...

so, I look forward to meeting all of you whom I previously talked to when I am home sometime late this fall. with luck, my car may be repainted and running, and if I am home early enough, perhaps a shark run will be in order. franconia notch in the autumn is rather nice, after all. take care everyone, I'll be in touch...

Sorry you didn't get it fixed.....The lift your uncle had scheduled fell through at the last moment. I called him sunday morning....glad I did, 'cause I didn't get his email message, that Friday. You said it is a drivetrain problem......so have you done further diagnosis? Are the mounts the problem?

My car is still on my lift. I am converting the AC system from R12 to the "legal" stuff, and at the same time, trying to run down a computer glitch......

Keep your head down.

Tim,
I was thinking about you just the other day. Thanks for the update! Your sacrifice and efforts are appreciated by far more people than you probably realize. Stay safe!

hey man, no need for apologies... it wasnt you or my uncle that fell through on me... was the mech. but, we will get another chance, I am sure. as far as the diagnosis... no, no further information... just what I saw and fekt when I took it around the block. my uncle and I got the tranny mounts replaced... wasnt those... and the motor mounts look to be okay. well, at least now I dont have to worry about tranny mounts for a while. the old ones were looking rough.

to the rest if you, my sincere thank you for all your support. it means more than you could possibly know.

Tim... PM me about whatever you need. I had a black on black car that went the way all track car projects do (when they don't make it to the track). Some interior stuff left, lots of drivetrain stuff. Special 'guys named Tim in the military' discounts apply!

Not sure who you belong to... but Semper Fidelis goes to all my brothers in arms...especially the one's in the sand box. Keep 'em busy, I'll be back there soon!
