Default TB party anytime soon?

Hey Everyone,

I know I am a perfect stranger to everyone here and have virtually no posts, but I have been reading so much here since I bought my 928 last october. All the previous posts have been a major help getting all the little things on this daily driver fixed up.

Anyhow, I think it is probably time to replace timing belt and water pump, and anything that goes along with. I was waiting until I replaced the odometer gear and that is done now.

Im in college and like to do everything myself even if it takes me longer cause I learn more about the car this way, I think most of you feel the same way. However I realize this is an important part of this car and would love to do this with some other people, whether they have done it before or not.

I live in Chico, CA. and dont mind driving. I was thinking sometime this coming summer. Is anyone interested or is there one already planned perhaps?

Well, Lorne, Chico is aways from Alamo, but are a timing belt party crowd. Sometime this summer, we can certainly do it somewhere around here if your up for the drive. As it gets closer, get back in touch and we can set it up.

Thanks Bill

My family is in Clayton (by Walnut Creek), so I have no problem heading down there. I am really excited and will check back in as it gets closer.

Typically how do these get-togethers work? Does everyone buy all their parts ahead of time and just bring everything to the location?

no. Typically, the person requesting the party gets a lists of parts needed by all involved and then provides them.

Heh!

Lorne - we just do your belt at the party. I suppose if someone else happened to be due for one at the same time, we could do two, but that hasn't happened. It's just an excuse for us 928 nuts to get together. So, a couple of weeks prior to, we can go over the parts you will need to order. You provide refreshments. I have tools. We do your belt together.

Thanks Bill, I guess I thought "party" meant a few get done at a time, but I see it really just means, well, a party. That is cool. So we can go over parts list and also what you guys want to eat and drink.
