Default 928 Clubsport?

Did Porsche import the 1988 928 Clubsport to the USA? I haven't seen any, but they were popular in europe and england (SE)... I'm sure there are some grey market cars out there! I guess the USA clubsport is the 89GT since they share the same (or similar) engine, but the clubsport is 150kg (330lbs) lighter...it must perform very well!

Does anyone know of any?

I know we had one when I worked at Road & Track but that doesn't mean they were imported. I think there has been a thread on this before.

Apparently 17 CS over '88 & '89 in Germany & France with 42 SE versions to GB - well documented by notre ami in his CS dedicated site .
Rare is the word ....

Garrity made mention the other day of two CS's being in the States. He claims to have sold one of 'em.

Garrity... do tell.

Hi,

I still would like to know if they were really two 1988 CS imported in the USA.
Any piece of information is welcomed!

I also still try to register as many CS as possible.

Regarding the 1989 production number, my English friend who is THE SE specialist still hasn't send me a copy of the letter from Porsche that says 7 were produced. I really regret this because this letter contains the VINs of the cars...

So, to my knowledege:
10 Euro 1988 CS
2 US 1988 CS (???)
7 Euro 1989 CS

IcemanG17, what is the book that indicates 71?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Samuel

So total SE production is 42 + 7 = 49 ?

I believe this is the book:

This is the book!!! It says 71CS + 42 SE? It also said the reason they had a hard time selling the CS-SE was the fact that is was "stripped" of alot of the luxury items to improve performance, but cost the same as a normal S4...I guess there wasn't that many buyers for a "racer" 928 back then. They also said the CS would not pass USA emissions....maybe it didn't have cats?

The one thing the customers really liked was the engine mods, so Porsche added the engine to a fully equiped S4 and made the GT for 89.

Correct the SE did not have cats.
Well my certainly doesn't.
The SE had pretty much all the luxuries put back in. Aircon, Cruise, both mirrors, rear wash wipe. Only 8 speaker stereo though. And of course no sunroof.

Thread resurrection!

I have news about these two cars.

WP0JB0922JS865061
Red car
Inside code KS (I suspect flannel cloth black with red stripes. Can anyone confirm?)
Equipment:
I158: Reno Radio
I167: Bridgestone tires
I393: CS rims
I441: Radio speakers and antenna amplifier
M474: sport shock absorbers
M481: 5 speed manual transmission
I607: More numerous cables for dashboard
I637: CS

WP0JB0924JS865062
Red car
Inside code XL (grey grau Porsche cloth)
Equipment:
I167: Bridgestone tires
I393: CS rims
M474: sport shock absorbers
M481: 5 speed manual transmission
I637: CS

I also have the engine and gearbox numbers and they are way off from the usual CS range. Both have been produced before the production cars (around June/July 1987) and I suspect they were made for the factory as test cars but never send to the USA.
