Default Window not working

I was moving the shark today (actually got all three of our cars in the garage, which was a requirement of the wife) and the driverside window stopped working . I hear the motor but the window doesn't move. The window did move down on its own and I am able to move it with my hand. Can anyone suggest where I should start to fix this?

FYI, my shark is a '89GT.

Thanks,

Steve B

Hmm...sounds odd...since the motor is running and you can hear it....the switch-relay-fuse are all good.... Possible long shot...if the car was outside for a while & the motor got cold....it just can't make enough power to move the window....might be better when its warm? Also try rolling it up/down when the car is on (more juice vs the battery)

More likely is the internal window frame/guide is loose or out of adjustment....typically the window guides wear out & need replacing around 10-15 years? Does the window rattle when it is about 1/2 way down while driving? If it does thats a good shot for the guides.

Brian,
Prior to today, he window had a slight rattle when it was all the way up and would make an occasional popping sound whne opened. I figured something was out of alignment or wearing out. Is there somewhere I can find a guide on how to take the door apart?

My window was imply loose and tightening two bolts inside the panel fixed it. You may not need a roller. The panel is retty easy to undo. I think they are all #10 metric socket and they are
1. in the vent from dash to door. (has a black plastic cap on it)
2. Two in the door compartment.
3. One under the door handle
4. A couple of screws along the bottom of the lower carpet section
5. One under the center cap of the round lock button.

The rest is just popping out plastic plugs and removing electrics. Mark your electric hookups. Did I miss any guys?

You may have lost the plastic wheel at the end of the arm that raises the window. Available from us or the other 928 vendors...

My window was acting the same. I have removed the door panel and found that actuator arm, being out of aluminum, is prone to flexing with time. It can eventually loose it's strait line ans can almost resemble a shallow S letter shape. I had to replace mine - all used already showed beginnings of being bent. So, this is what I have done: http://members.***.net/my_1987s4_928...forcement.html

Either way, You need to take door panel off to see if this may be Your problem.

Thanks for the picts in the link. It has been too rainy here to work on the car, so this will have to wait 'til the weekend.
