All belts will do the job; however, there are differences ..... which may be unimportant to many ...
Firstly, while Porsche lend their name to a timing belt, they do not make TBs ... like any other part, they are sourced to competitive bid from qualified suppliers.
I have installed 'Porsche' belts in both square tooth and HTD profile on my 16v ( the latter after cam drive updates) and on Rick's '86.5. These belts had a long and happy life ... but .... each required tension adjustment at the specified intervals, none of which was due to worn or bent components. Ditto on Jeffs '89. Rick's didn't make 600Km before the tensioner alarm went off - and that belt was spun many times to 'condition' it prior to initial setting, and recheck ... and recheck ...
The dimpled profile HTD by Optibelt ( also a Porsche OE supplier) currently wraps the cams of my '16v and S4: The S4 has three full seasons and the '80 two seasons complete as they are now nestled in hibernation. At the specified intervals ( and some extra looks) to inspect tension, both belts were, and remain smack on correct tension: zero/nada/niet adjustment required.
Are there differences? ... depends on what is important to you: I think that any of the major brand names will do a fine job.: Conti, Pirelli, 'Porsche', Optibelt, .... Just be aware that some stretch, and that stretch will influence cam timing to a degree ( bad pun ) - and scare the xxxxx out of some by triggering the low tension alarm.
