Throttle Cable Adjustment
Hi all, just returned from a great 2 week hunting trip
During the intial stages for the SC install, we (Tony and I) noticed that my throttle body was never fully opening Now that we're 99% complete on the install, I'd really like to get some good poiters on adjusting the throttle cable
Tony played with it last week and found that when he obtained full throttle, the cable wouldn't return to idle!
Is there somthing that can be done with the throttle cable adjustments to allow full throttle and return to idle?

Darien,
Send me a photo preferably looking straight down on your linkage cable setup and I might can help you. I have done a lot of linkage arrangements over the last few months(major understatement) and have gotten pretty good at changing "ratios" in various ways to solve problems like yours.

Hi Darian,
Got the photos, you and Tony are doing a nice job on the install.
I think I see the problem, that "aftermarket" ball stud "socket" on the throttle body is too large for the Porsche ball stud on the throttle body and the "play" within the larger socket is enough to cause your issue. Try ordering a replacement ball "socket" made for the size of the throttle body ball stud... OR use the proper sized ball stud which is available from McMaster where the socket came from. Once you eliminate that internal play of approx. 2mm in that the socket you should be OK. If not let me know and I will look again.

Thanks Dave!! I know others have the same set-up, I was hoping it was my adjustment located somewhere different.
I posted a thread when we first started the project and I never had full throttle with the pedal on the floor. I never knew because I couldn't see the t-body with the intake tubes installed.

Macreel,
>DR...et al... this brings to mind a WOT question.
>What happens if the WOT switch isn't tripped,
>or is tripped late ?? (in '84-'87 cars)
You do not get full enrichment and are leaving power on the table, with a Boosted 928 the results could be even more "unpleasant".

I was thinking that on the other side of the coin that you could actually trip the WOT switch and not have full opening of the throttle plate.
Could that happen??
I havent measured it but from what i gathered the WOT actually starts well before the physical location of WOT stop.
I had the same type of throttle issues on my car using the S4 throttle body..i had to physically lengthen the arm/throw of the linkage to get everythign to work correctly at both ends.....idle closed...WOT full open.
Its just going to take some tweeking and experimenting.

Tony: The WOT is supposed to trip at around 2/3 rds throttle. Even so, I have seen loose throttle cables that wouldn't trip it, as verified by the Spanner. Snugged the cable up (both sections) and WOT worked again.

When we were checking for continuity on the t-body wire harness, the WOT didn't happen until the butterfly was more than 2/3 open. It was more like 98%.
