Pictures are a good idea but i filmed everything i did.

Biggest part of the job is not breaking all the bolts after 20 years.

Stop it! I'm finally within a few days of pulling mine off the road for a couple of months worth of TB/Wp, intake refinish/reseal. new fuel lines, etc., etc. You're starting to bum me out. I don't want a "reality check" before I even break my first WP bolt! I want to hear how much fun I'm going to have and what a great learning experience this will be.

You can smile when you turn the key and it starts up.

Glenn note, the engine removal is the big thing. just too much for me. Tbelt/pump etc are a breeze compared.

Now you're talkin'! (Don't sell yourself short on the engine re/re thing though. No doubt external events have forced you to change your focus along the way, causing mental lapses. Otherwise, I'm sure you would have been just fine with it.

Don't worry about it, Glenn. I've done the TB/WP thing twice and it really is not such a big deal.

ah the slippery slope leading to a full firewall foward OH, that leads into complete suspension, brakes, interior and a paint OH too... BTDT, and it's a total hoot - every time I take it out for a "spin".

course, it took 3yrs and a few chips/$$, but the motor and engine compartment OH gave it plenty of zip and confidence it won't break for another 20yrs/100k mi, the suspension and brakes made it feel like a go cart stopping and turning, and the new int/paint made it look nicer too - all worth it, IMO.

face it, at 20 yrs old - there's not a whole lot you couldn't justify replacing, upgrading or repainting, and it's still cheaper than a GT3, C4, new vette, etc.... so you are actually SAVING money when you upgrade and replace/paint/etc these old gals (unlike some women, who at 40.... um, never mind)

so save away! the more you do now, you'll be glad you did later!!

Rob my brutha .... you're so right. As you may recall my first order of business was to get her mechanically sound. Did that. Then you may recall i have the finest brand new Porsche original full-leather interior money could buy at the time (but now unobtainable). So the next logical step was the engine Interior took one year but at least I could drive her all that time. So far we're at some 15 mos on the engine pull. A few short days and she should be on the road again ...

It is SO important to start with an updated model. Bigger brakes and suspension etc.
