Default nyc 928 timing belt mechanic

I am looking for someone to do the timing belt job on my 1985 euro. Anyone know of a reliable 928 mechanic near Brooklyn NY? I would love to attempt this job my self but unfortunately I am not too mechanically inclined and do not have a garage where I can do work on it myself. If anyone knows of a good mechanic in or around my area please let me know. As an alternative, if anyone has some spare time/space and wants to help save this shark, I will bring the parts, beer, food, etc, and would love to help work on it. Thanks a lot everyone. -Sash

On LI, SM Motorsports did a local S4 recently, and I have used Rudtner's European Auto for some AC work, dyno's and inspections(ask for Bill).

I would love to help, but don't have a ton of free time until way after the holidays. If you can wait a few of months until I get my house finished , I may be able to do it with you.

If it was my car, and I was paying to get it done, I would probably trailer it up to Musante Motorsports in CT. They know thier 928's. 860-291-9415.

I had my timing belt done by PAR Porsche specialists in New Rochelle, back before I knew any better. They did a fine enough job, but were very expensive and took forever. Since then, I've gone to Sonny at SM Motorsports in New Hyde Park (seems to know his 928s very well but I suspect he was uninterested in hunting around all day for a vacuum leak for me).

Recently I've gone up to EuroMeccanica, Inc., (Michael Shiffer), at 114 Pearl St, Mount Vernon NY 10550. He seems pretty keen on working on 928s, but I haven't had him do anything complex yet.

The T-belt is one job I haven't really wanted to try, given the cost of failure... even though I know it's part of proving your 928 chops . I am moving to an apt. that has a private garage in Queens soon and would be happy to help out if you decide to do it yourself and need a spot, but not until Feb. or probably even March.

Good luck!

P.S.- did you ever get that situation with your MAF straightened out?

I would recommend PAR, it is a reputable Porsche franchise shop. 914-637-8800.

there is a shop in Elmsford called Rennwerke, Cheech is the owner/racer, 914 592-4006. Neither are very convenient to you, but there is public transport access if you are pressed. I've not had work other than PPI at either, but they are professional shops.
