Default And now for something completely different (project update: seats)

Hey all,

for those who followed my interior project, here is a little update:

Seats are in

The material used are:
- African Ostrich
- genuine suede
- aniline leather

The leather work itself was done by an old world craftsman. He is out of the business, but I was able to convince him to do these seats and the back seats.

Now if I can say so myself, the pictures do not even begin to do the seats justice. The feel of the suede, the fit, the finish. These things far exceeded my expectations. They have to be seen to be appreciated.

Yup, phenomenal!! Even the seatback release is detailed to death! You're doing an amazing job, Paul, and the vision you have is very unique and wholly original. Impressive. Thank you for the updates!

Paul,
One of these days I just have to see your car in person! (I'll bring lots of film)

Looks like all the ***** are leather covered with inlay too? As always - WOW!

The usual fantastic focus on the details... while I might not be planning my own "Ostrich Car" your car its an amazing one off... I know you aren't done yet - whats next on the list? when is your target to have the car 'done' - and will you take it to show at a major 928 event (928 Owners Club International convention in Boulder, CO next year... maybe? too soon?)

Paul, all I can say is "you da man". The seats look great, just like the rest of the car.

Hey Doc: I sure will. Linda renewed our reservation as soon as the new dates were announced.

Hey Alan: glad you guys noticed the buttons this time. I found it strange that nobody seemed to have noticed that I made new buttons for the hatch release with custom pictographs. But I guess, if it doesn't jump out at you it means I'm doing it right
I wish we get together at one point too. I want to see that "best of show" shark of yours

Hey Greg: nothing tacky about the question. I came out of it with a very good deal. I was able to get all the leather, including the Ostrich, at dealer cost and the gentleman who crafted the seats only charged me $600 for both. So all included, both front seats costs about $1400
But I was quoted between $3000 to $5000 for the same thing by 4 well established companies.

Hey Dave: you will have a chance to see it upclose. I'm planning to change the carpet but I'm not sure of the color. So I was planning to drop by your place and check out some samples for effect. I'll call Jeannie to make arrangements when the time comes. Linda is just afraid that the whole thing is just a scam for me to put my grubby little hands on a SC

Those seats will fit your 928 perfectly...especially with the espresso metallic paint too...I have to see this one in person one day!

Will the seats hold up well? Is the ostrich leather and suede going to be as durable as convential leather?

Hey Brian: actually, ostrich is one of the most resistant leather in the world. And it as a natural oil that helps prevent drying and shrinking better than most usual leather. The suede is also very resistant to abrasion and can usually be brushed back to like-new appearance for a very long time. It is however very difficult to clean if you stain it. So it as to be treated with a protectant and guarded against strange mechanic's oily hands and kid's sticky fingers
