Aluminum expansion related failure is very plausibe, but I do not believe there would be any significant differences in the physical properties of the steel internals (e.g. "weakens") between 200F and 300F. Any materials engineers to confirm MHO?

I doubt that the properties of the steel parts would change significantly. It's the aluminum case that would grow and tensile strength tend more toward that of peanut butter.
