In tank fuel pump replacement tips
My in tank pump is dead. I ordered a new one. Any tips on getting the old one out. I'm concerned about mucking up the plastic fuel tank.

How do you know the in-tank pump is dead?
Fairly simple procedure.
- Run until tank almost empty
- remove access cover
- jumper main pump and use to drain tank to a bucket
- remove main pump
- unscrew in-tank pump (may be difficult to get it started)
- install new in-tank pump
- check that electrical connections are good and clean
- install new peice of hose between two pumps
- re-install main pump
- replace cover
BTW I did both pumps while I was in there. If the in-tank pump dies then the main pump could be damaged becasue of lack of suction head.

Had the same thing happen to me a couple months ago. Both pumps shot. I figure the intank went out and either took out the main pump or the main pump had to work too hard because the intank pump wasn't working. Either way both were dead. Second time the GT has standed me...

These in tank pumps are horrible, IMHO. I'm removing mine. They seem more like a liability then a help.
