Smile Headlight washers fixed

Hi,
I posted this week about getting my 84S windshield washers working and you guys started me in the right direction. I found my w/s washer pump, cleaned in and it worked right away. I had already cleaned my washer reservoir and the pump underneath it not realizing it was the headlight washer pump. The H/L washer pump tested OK but would not work with lights on and washer lever pulled. (The intensive washer responded to just a cleaning and it was fine too.)
I tried jumping the H/L washer relay contact 30 to P and the washers put out a real nice spray. The H/L washer relay has only 5 contacts: 30 & 31 which are power, P which sends 12V to pump, S which comes from the washer switch and 56 which comes from the headlight relay and tells the washer the lights are in the UP position. I checked continuity per wiring diagrams and found that the headlight relay signal was OK but the washer switch sent signal to the windshield washer pump but not to the H/L washer relay. I made a temporary jumper from Main Board terminal C3 to C5 where both washer switch signal wires are available and everything worked fine. I concluded that one of the contacts in the double pole washer switch was not functional. I could have replaced the switch but I made the jumper semi-permanent for now. Looking at the diagrams I think this will have no ill affects but we'll see.
This worked for me and maybe this experience will help somebody. Good luck.
Dave McK.
