There aren't a lot of organizations where I will gladly pay to join and cover my share of the costs...but Rennlist is one of the best.

This post deserves to be bumped. Alarms cause more problems than they should. The worst are the aftermarket undocumented wiring messes. My alarm works fine, only it does occasionally have a mind of its own and arms at about 2am, causing it to get noticed by the neigbors. Gotta love these cars!

Especially when they get spliced into the factory POS alarm sytem leaving it active. Only way forwards is to work out what the factory alarm connections should be - note and mark them rip out all the old stuff and the install new using the original connections where that suits the functions of the new system.

Both the Clifford model 8 and the factory alarm appear to be working fine on my 83, but I may take advantage of the fact that a local shop still has a guy that installed the model 8 series in Porsches and have the old systems removed and replaced with a wireless fob system.

Maybe this, Valet 712T 3-Channel Keyless Entry System, http://www.buy.com/prod/valet-712t-3...ml?dcaid=17379

I thought this was interesting.

My '85 has the stock alarm...PLUS a horrendous alarm addition of some kind (working together in some mysterious way). I've got it under contol most of the time but it still has gremlins. I would like to dis-arm it once and for all but the install config is in someone's head somewhere. When the weather gets nicer, I'll take these posts and crawl back under the dash again.
