Default 928 GT vs. Lamorghini Gallardo - Committted Suicide

Short story.

Wow! Coming home on Friday after work - actually on the way to pick up the boy from school. I was stopped at an intersection when this silver lambo came rolling by in the turn lane. I had to do a double take because you NEVER see anything like this in Plymouth, MI. What's a man to do? Follow him!

Now, I don't know what this GT is capable of, but I thought this was the time to find out. After we made out left turn on to a 4 lane road and got past some of the traffic, I came up along side and saw these two guido-looking dudes in this very nice sounding machine! CRISP! I gave them a

Then he dropped the hammer, and I capitulated. He was gone! Not even a chance. Now take it to heart that we were doing about 30-40 and by 80 he was well ahead of me and I was running out of road. Oh yeah speed limit was 35 I think, so I really didn't want to get busted.

Anyway, it was fun. I got served. Oh well. Need to look for that super charger under the tree this christmas.

P.S. I know my hood looks like ****. It doesn't anymore. Clay-barred it and waxed it today. And all was right once again in the world.

Look at the HP to weight ratio of the two cars and you'll see what you were up against. I'll bet he has JUSSSSST a few more $$$$$$$$$ in the Lambo than you have in the Shark.

You can strap on a SC, but you're still gonna get roasted! Nice try though...LOL Those cars are a whole 'nother league. I think if I were in a situation with one of those, I would only chance it above 80 on the freeway and see how fast he walks (or runs) away. That way you don't look so bad.

500 hp and all-wheel drive (if I'm not mistaken.)

No loss of face in getting run over by one of those.

Getting smoked by Lamborghini is an honor.... no shame whatsoever.

They're geared better (and there's more of them) and have a ton more power.

Better, faster, sleeker, or whatever-er, it was cool just to hang with one for a while. Never seen one in person, except for a lambo countach in Japan when I was an exchange student there back in the 80's. I practically had an orgasm in my pants. Guess I'm getting old.

With a SC won't it be a game of traction. I know we have a murf SS here that has a 3.9 0-60 and i find the gallardo with a 4.1. And with the power of the SS to spin wheels at will in the upper gears power is not the issue but instead traction.

Nice way to "break in" the new GT.

There is a yellow one around here that I see occasionally, but I seem to always be in either in the van or X-5 when I see it. Sweet set of wheels. I do hope for a boosted GT encounter someday.

R&T has the Gallardo at 4.0 0-60 and 12.3 at 117mph in the 1/4, so a well boosted GT may just surprise that Lambo owner.

I was behind a Carrera GT last night (in my truck) for about 5 miles. That thing sounds awesome when it accelerates hard. The guy took off a couple of times hard from a stop. The things shifts so quick! Anyway the funny part was as he was entering the toll road, (no doubt to open it up) a CHP was entering from the other direction. Those cars are so out of our leagues. No harm in tempting them so you can hear them scream away though......

I did a top speed run against one. I got 248kph he got 285. With more runway I could have got 265+ but he would have been over 300. No contest.

Not really

per Road & Track
Gallardo: 0-60 4.0; 1/4 mile 12.3@117.4

Imo000 recently did the 1/4 in 12.8@109 with stock 16" wheels and 6psi (I'm guessing on the psi)

Strap on Murf's (or anyone else's kit) up to 9+ psi and better rubber....Your now in Murcielago territory. All this for less than 6 months of payments on the Lambo (including the cost of a 928)

Now for the rare 6.1 stroker with a blower..........

You had a better chance of pinning Rulon Gardner in a rastlin' match.

Or you could just buy a Suzuki Hayabusa like I had once and do 1/4's in 9.9 and 0-60 in 2 sec. All for $10k.
