ideal oil cooler line size????

Hi all,

I have an oil cooler with AN-8 fittings. I was going to plumb this in by taking the existing oil cooler lines and have them rebuilt with one end being an AN-8 fitting. Mentioned this to Louie Ott and he suggested I research more thinking that an AN-12 fitting would be more appropriate.

So here's the question..is anyone out there running aftermarket oil coolers on their 928 and what are the line fittings are you using?.....

Thanks in advance..
Tom

Tom,
I am in the process of installing one. I am using AN -12 lines and fittings. Also, no sandwich plate. I am taking the feed right off the side of the block where the original lines came out.

Cheers,
JF

Hey Joe,

Thanks for the info...seems when I search, most people are using AN-12 size fittings. What size are the lines in your cooler..as the oil feed lines don't make a diff...if the cooler lines are smaller. What brand and style cooler are you using?

I will be doing the same...just rebuilding the existing oil cooler hoses a little bit longer and with the proper sized fitting on the cooler side..did your Euro come with a cooler or were those feeds above the pressure sender blocked off?

Euro S would have been factory fitted with cooler.

Tom,
I think I agree with Louie, 1/2 " or -8 might be a bit small.

The Euro had a built in cooler in the radiator so the fittings on the block are available. When I replaced the radiator with one that did not have a cooler, I had to add one. The cooler I have is a Setrab and has 3/4 in and out ports. I ordered it with -12 fittings. I had some -12 aeroquip hose lying around so I decided to use it to plumb the cooler rather than trying to extend the stock hoses. But that certainly would have been an easier option.
Good luck, let me know if I can help. Here is a photo of the cooler.
Cheers,

-12's on my track car. I had a pair of -12 fittings re-threaded to fit the block.
