Alan, most of the Strosek and Koenig conversions I've seen on the internet (never seen one in person) are pre-87 cars updated to post-87 looks. It seems very feasible that this is a pre-GTS car updated to GTS looks by Strosek. Like you, I could do without the Clemens touches, especially on the rear.

PS, sorry about not getting back to you on the electrical primer. The move hasn't been as smooth as I expected. I just got DSL hooked up sunday and it isn't hooked to the computer with MS Office yet.

It is a bad deal... unless someone really wants it. A pristine 928 is an awesome car and for some the price is not an object, rather to get what they want and drive off with it. It is not worth $50K in terms of market value, but 928 s were never about "market value" anyway... If they can pick up a fast $15K in a year, more power to them. I wouldn't be disappointed if that were under my Christmas tree for a present...
