Well I know this mod wont interest the racers, but I saved a few kilos maybe just under 10 kgs with an air cond mod. I converted my car to 134a gas and used a parallel flow Jaycar condensor weighing 2 kgs. I then used a Toyota Tarago dryer (alloy) with alloy pipes and bracket and that weighed 500 grams. So total weight saved there was 4 kgs over a S2 equivelant.

I also went to a late style compressor with pad fittings (90 model onwards) and that also saved. The old compressor weighed 13 kgs. The the late style one weighs only 7.5 kgs, that's almost 10 kgs gone from the front end of the car and no sacrifices have been made.

Cheers Greg

You are truly carrying the Olympic torch for the old buggers. Keep it up.

Thanks FBIII, does anybody know what those more modern design alternators weigh? Like the ones on Toyotas and Hondas, I'm sure they put out a few amps, what with all those electrical accessories.

Cheers Greg

For a race car, Carl, that is a must-removal, but 32lbs for having power windows instead of the rollers, is a good trade off.

I think a few of us could easily lose 32lbs off of our wasteline.

I will need to get you those pics and weights of my swiss cheese bumper!

I know I could. Everytime I look at John Venninger or Mark Anderson, I am reminded what a race car driver is supposed looks like.

I will need to get you those pics and weights of my swiss cheese bumper!
Yes, please. A Mototool and a six-pack and you can lighten your front or rear bumpers a bunch and still keep your foglamps.

Drewster - thats a damn pretty interior. Anybody who has scraped sound deadening for a couple of hours can appreciate what it takes to get it to that point.

Thanks Carl! - it was a looong process and it took a few of us from the AZ Desrt Gang (RedUFO - Rich9928p - PVoth) a few hours with a high temp pressure washer to put a good dent in it. Although Dan Warner deserves most of the credit when it comes down to it!.

Thanks again!

The aluminum diamond-plate sheet on the floor under the drivers heel is a handsome solution to cover the damn holes in the floor right there. Do the bumps bother your heel-toe or shoe placement at all?
