Default Help, Need Some Pics! (rear luggage cover)

I need some photos of an original luggage cover and particularly how it is connected to both the quarter panels and the hatch lid. If I could get some measurements along with those, I would be eternally grateful! I will be attemting to replicate the factory cover, first in vinyl as a pattern, and then in leather. Should I be successful, It is a possibility That I could offer these as replacements for those who lack them (like me), or as a replacement for people who have, or want to, to change interior colors. Thanks in advance, all help is greatly apprecciated.

Are you sure? Eternally is a very very long time

I have an original cloth cover (which is in dire need of replacement BTW) - What do you need to know? I can take it out of the car tonight and measure it.

It attaches to both panels and hatch with "*****" on some kind of elastic string. The hatch end has a beam of sorts, sewn in to it, to keep it straight. The other end has a zipper down the middle so it can be split in case you fold down one of the rear seats only.

Well Niels, I guess you're correct, eternally is a long time,LOL. How about " I will be extremely grateful"? If not too much trouble, How about a couple shots with it installed in the car, showing the attachment points, and the zipper? The actual measurements I can probably figure out on my own. Thanks again.

Wow Niels, Those are just exactly what I was looking for. OK, I may have to locate a source for the winder and the connectors, but the way the fabric is stiched and zippered are no longer a mystery. I can do this. Prototype soon to be on the sewing machine. I will update as I go. Thanks again Niels!

No prob. Let me know if you need more details...

One thing that is not obvious from the pictures is that the lower (zipped) part can be rolled up and attached to itself with a pair of buttons so it's nice and tidy when not in use.

I have two old ones and a new Sunbrella one. The two old ones consist of an original equipment black fabric cover in good condition except for the fabric which is torn and rotted, and a grey vinyl cover which is also fabric over the rear seats and that fabric is old and rotted. The sunbrella almost got tossed and stuffed in the nearest dumpster because I had trouble getting the attachment points to stay attached, and because that crummy cover didn't cover the entire luggage area like the factory cover. Finally I managed to get it to stay attached after some colorful language and some muscle. I would stuff it up the maker's --- if I could find him/her. One of the snaps lasted about 1 day before it self destructed. I paid $200 for that POS.

So on the way home from Pennsylvania, I thought I would take my factory cover to the upholstery shop and have him copy it in Sunbrella fabric using the original connections and cords and internal stiffeners.

Now you ask for photos. How about I send you my grey one as a pattern and you use it to make new covers using Sunbrella fabric? I don't want to use it anyway. And I want to use my Sunbrella as toilet paper. If you could make a cover like the factory cover using Sunbrella fabric, and sell it for less, you might cash in. I would buy one or two for the GTS I am planning to buy when I win the lottery. Where do I send it??

I need a new one too. That bright spot in the center of mine is a hole. A mouse hole.

Yeah, the little buggers put a hole in this, too.
