New Clutch Probs
Put in a new clutch about 300 miles ago. There are two problems. First the clutch seems to jump (chatter) in 1st and reverse as you get going. Second the clutch has started slipping under hard aceleration in 3rd and 4th.
I replaced, both clutch discs, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot shaft, release arm bushing, slave cylinder and pilot bearing.
I have screwed around with the adjusters on the central plate but I can't believe these adjusters would have anything to do with clutch slippage.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Sean

Thanks guys. I will check tonight. Come to think of it, the slave was very diifficult to install. Maybe the rod was NOT seated correctly.

Burning Brakes
Sean,
Check the master cylinder to clutch pedal rod adjustment as well. If the rod is adjusted too far (ie. effective length is too long), the load will not be taken off the slave when pedal is up. Result, clutch will not completey release. The slave rod will also be very tough to push in if too much pre-load is on the master.
Loosen the lock on the rod nut and adjust the rod until there in no load when clutch pedal is up (ie. the rod can be slipped on and off the pedal easily with clip removed). Once this is achieved, pre-load cylinder by turnning rod about 1/4 turn CW. Tighten lock nut.
