Completely removing the vacuum system
Is it possible? The only things I can think of that would be a problem are the brake booster and climate control. I have a plan for the climate control involving electric servos. I'm not sure what to do about the brake booster yet.
What else would be a problem?

On the 84s, isn't there a vacum line attached to the distirbutor? If I'm not mistaked, the fuel pressure regulator is also vacum operated.

84 Euro's have the dual head distributor, and electronic spark control, so no vacuum lines to the distributor, but I think there's a vacuum line to the spark brain.
You could use an electric vacuum pump for the brake booster, climate and cruise control. Many diesel cars have one. You could even convert the brake booster to a hydraulic assist.
But in your case, why?
I deleted most of my vacuum thieves, and got better throttle response. (After some reading recently, I put back the vacuum retard on the distributor.)

My car is a basket case. Eliminating any other possible problems would be nice. The throttle response you mentioned would also be nice.
I had thought of an electric vacuum pump for the brake booster, but would prefer a non-vacuum solution if I do this. I was not aware of a vacuum line for the EZK. I'll have to check into that. My cruise control brain has flaked out and it's only working function is to floor the throttle on 'resume'. I don't care if cruise works and had thought about removing it anyway.

Have you had the MAF checked?

When it ran, it ran like a scalded dog on meth. Hopefully it will be that way when it runs again. It's the future problems that I'm looking to avoid. I don't know that I'll try it, but I am very curious if it can be done easily. If it looks like it can be done easily, I'll probably do it. If it doesn't look like it can be done easily and I start having problems, I may do it anyway.

I have toyed with the idea of replacing the vacuum-actuated climate stuff with mechanical controls several times. I may yet.
I'd love to find a way to revise the system. Having a system that relies on vacuum, electrical, and mechanical components just doesn't make sense.
