A few more hours down, a few more pictures
After spending some time at a cottage this weekend, I was back out in the garage tonight.
Accomplished:
1. Passenger side valve cover installed. The lowest, forward bolt did NOT want to grip and bolt down. It seems that the threads in the head are almost non-existent except at the very bottom. I had no choice but to remove the 1/2" thich rubber washer and replace it with Permatex in order to get it to reach the few remaining threads. Hopefully the neighboring bolts will be sufficient to provide a tight seal for the valve cover. I guess I'll find out.
2. Vacuum lines connected. I made a point of taping the tranny vacuum line to the firewall so that I wouldn't have to fish for it down by the bell-housing. Of course, when I tried to plug it into the 7-way vacuum fitting, it slipped out of the tranny line. 30 minutes and a lot of cursing later, it's hooked up.
3. All but one oil breather line is hooked up. I'll get the last one tomorrow.
There's one vacuum line that I can't figure out. In the picture below, it's supposed to go on the "diverter valve"...but I can't find it!! Anyone got a picture of where it is????
Anyway, here's the current pictures. I'm working my *** off to make it to SITM.

The diverter valve controls air flow from the smog pump. Just follow the smog pump outlet until you find a vacuum-actuated valve. That's the diverter valve.

BigDave, since youre sans-smog pump, I would think your should just cap it off. Thoughts? Wow! you are almost there. When do you think the magic night will be? My wife is in town all week, so I should be able to break away one (maybe two) nights this week. Let me know!

Yeah, I guess since I'm smog-pump-less, the connection will be capped off.
Unless I run into another 2-hour-bolt situation (yes, I wasted 2 hours on one bolt last night) I should be able to turn the key in the next couple days.

GT:
That diagram has been VERY helpful. Glad you can use it, too!
As far as the car goes, my stamina for staying in the garage until midnight each night is nearly as empty as Mrs. Big Dave's patience. I want this done!!!!!
If it doesn't run after I turn the key, I'm gonna McVicar it.
(yeah, I know it was his ex who did it, but you get the idea)

UPDATE:
Spark plugs are in, rotors are on, and TB covers are on. Starter and alternator are wired and ready to go. Unfortunately, I had to pull the radiator again to be able to plug the electrical connections in. I hadn't realized that they were loose wires instead of a fixed plug under that rubber cap. AC compressor is back on, too.
Tuesday's our 8th wedding anniversary, so no car stuff
Wednesday night I'm putting on the intake and plug wires. Assuming no snags (Murphy's Law), I'll get the accessory belts and radiator hoses on, too. That leaves Thursday for connecting the fuel injection harness and filling up with coolant, ATF and oil....and with luck, a key turn. That momentous date keeps getting pushed back, but SITM ain't, so wish me luck fellas! I'm not going to have much time leftover to work out any kinks.

Dave-
You are getting seriously close. Literally, just a few more hours - if that before you turn the key. If you want, I can make myself available for Thursday night to push this thing through. Friday is booked, but I could probably become available for a few hours on Saturday morning. I want to see this beast breathe again! Just say the word.
