Default Door switch *** changed for easier search ***

How exactly can you get at that little door plunger switch? How can you get it out to lube it up or change it?

To clarify this is the switch that turns on the courtesy lights.

Joe,
Don't pull it out to fast.
If it is snug , wiggle it a little.
Reason... the wire(s).
You can get at the wiring easy enough if it falls inside but why mess around in the first place?
My 82' had been tinkered with sometime in it's life and you would have sworn there was less to
work with than on a wire bundle in a headlamp on a old Honda motorcycle.
Zack's White 81' had plenty to spare.
Are you tracking down a battery drain, or just doing a general cleanup?

Thanks for popping this question up Joe!

Mine doesn't work all of the time. Sometimes the lights come on and sometimes they don't. If they don't, then the hatch release button doesn't work because it thinks the doors are closed. If I wiggle the switch they'll work so I want to take it out and see if there's a loose connection back there or if the spring is sticking.

Thanks for the info folks!

Carefully take hold of the door switchy thing with a pair of thingymajigs twisting ever so gently. Never use watcha macallits cause they can scratch it. Ha ha! Just riding ya!
Oh yeah, I agree with John, never pullit out too fast!

BTW - as far as I know replacement is the best idea - so don't take them out until you have the new ones.... IIRC they are cheap from the big 3

Alan,
Rightious fix!
As I recall they used to be around $7.00.
I haven't tried yet, but, there should be a multitude of pin switches that could be used in Lieu of...
I have heard (somewhere?) that the pin switch body(depressable pin) has been turned in to the point where the wire broke or disconnected. Apparently, by a lost soul who figured that would tighten things up.
NOT!
FWIW
If you are searching for a possible battery drain this is a good a spot as any.

I am publicly admitting that I am embarrassed that I even started this thread. Whent up to 928intl today bought a new switch got home 20 seconds later all done. It looks of it was deceiving. The problem was there was build up of long term carbon or what ever is built up from that little bit of arching that occurs when the contact is made. To cheap for a new one to clean the old one up.

Ah there will still be posts. I am changing the title though to make searches easier. BTW, I had loads of wire. About 6-8 inches worth.
