I saw something along those lines mentioned on his last supercharger kit for sale.

So what happened with Devek?

Aren't they supposed to take over manufacturing and sales of the supermodel kits?
Or were they just going to be a retailer?

Regardless, as long as the casting is out there, someone can make additional manifolds.

I don't know who it is but sand castings made out of A356.0T6 costing only $20 and $60 each including straightening sounds rediculously cheap. Especially if these prices are for quantities of 12 at a time. This will not include any machining costs and scrap that may occur. A356 alone costs between $1.85 and $2 a pound for the raw material if bought in bulk and heat treatment is usually equal to material cost with minimum charges most likely exceeding $300 per lot. There is no description of the tooling but if cores are required it would be considerably more costly then described or whoever is makeing the castings is a mom and pop shop or they make real crappy parts.

This may not be anyone on this board, maybe someone who toyed with the idea and is just trying to make back some cost of makeing a unit that never worked. Besides this is only the tooling for the housing castings. What costs are involved with the actuall internals that make it work and the plans to build the unit?

Just my .02 worth

They also say it is a single shrink master pattern. If it is a master pattern it would be a double shrink. Tooling would then be made from the master to manufacture the actual parts. There is also no mention of gating which is critical to manufacturing a quality casting.

Look at his feedback. Second rating from the top indicates that it is a member of this board.

If you read between the lines on most of the posts over the last 2 months - one is led to believe that the joy is gone.

The website mysteriously dropped all product details. Devek did nothing with their website to promote selling said products.

I am just waiting for the words "Done" or "Uncle" to be communicated.

If I didn't have three kids, college to plan for, job changes, etc., I would have bought and installed a kit year or so ago. I am afraid that there are too many like me that may have a great deal of interest, have some money, but the lack of courage to call four digit $$$s discretionary. Fence sitters like me do nothing to keep pioneers motivated. I am surprised at how many fence sitters and dreamers are out there. The dude should have sold 50 or 60 kits at the prices he had been advertising.

Nuther comment, and I hope that I am not overstepping bounds here, but it seems like when life changes occur (break ups, divorce, etc) people go through a time of reflection and ultimately, priorities and attitudes change. Can't blame anyone for this stuff. Except maybe an Ex or two - yeah blame the Ex!

I hope that this all amounts to a hiatus, and not an actual departure.

Well then my appologies to whoever it is. However, being a manufacturer of Aluminum & Magnesium sand castings it seems off base to me. That is unless the parts are made in China.

I believe that is Andy Keel's e-bay ID, we'll be hearing from him soon on this post would be my guess.
How many supermodels kits were sold before he decided to sell the main casting form?

He has no pcitures of the casting on e-bay, generally an indicator that the seller is not serious about selling yet. Maybe he is just trying to rally all of us who are "on the fence" or holding out till next year to buy a kit in the next month.

Andy, it was fun chatting about the supermodel with you. I guess I won't be buying one at this point. Hope you find something more exciting to do for the future.

It truly is a shame if Andy drops off the scene. I've followed all the supercharger threads and he has been truly a good thing for this community. If you are truly gone, I say thank you and good luck in the future.

Over the next year i decide to take the plunge to the Dark side... (Sith opens tomorrow )...and i make it to Sharktoberfest 05 after pulling an all nighter finishing this... tweeking and modifying things to fit my individualist ideas and requirements.
Now im at 402Hp..with more to come.
While Ive had my "disagreements" with Andy over things, I will say thanks for all the work and time he poured into this to get it off the ground...so other didnt have to
Now i and others are running with it.

Next..Im really looking foward to seeing what happens with the S4 and a twin turbo.
