Can you interchange an engine from an automatic to manual equiped car?
 

I know the engine numbers are different for an automatic and manual trans engine of the same year, but I need to know if they are interchangeable and if so, is it easy, or is there some difference in the crank? Considering buying a parts motor and was wondering. Thanks. 84 euro manual.

I've seen an M28/11 in a 3spd auto OB, so it can be done. I have no idea of what kind of work is involved.

no problem - I've got a M12 (aut) in my 5 sp :-)

IIRC you must change the flywheel and perhaps the bell housing

Cranks are the same different fly wheel and bell housing.

If the auto engine is going into the 5 sp car, don't forget the pilot bearing!
