Interpreting PET part numbers

Trying to correlate equivalent parts across multiple Porsche platforms. Anyone knows if the same Porsche Part can exist under 2 (or more) different part numbers?

There currently an eBay part for a 944 that looks to be similar to that of the 928, but PET5 shows different part number. It's the fuel sending unit.

According to PET5, 944 P/N is 944 641 037 01 and 928 P/N is 928 641 030 01

Thanks in Advance
Tarek

well, since the 928 sport steering wheel has a 944 p/n, and the aero mirrors have same 964 p/n's, i'd assume they aren't the same.

Thanks Dave! I was hoping Porsche created new part numbers for same parts in order to separate the supply chains across platforms and have more controls and metrics by model. Well so much for that theory. Thanks again.
