This is likely a '78 or '79. Look at the front ride height.

It has S front spoiler.

Where? I only see the edge of what looks like an "S" spoiler and a set of side skirts. Looks like one wing or spoiler on the back?

The window trims are chrome. Wouldn’t that make it an early (78-80) model?

For those interested in determing the model year, perhaps a few more of my observations would help....

I had said it was an S because of the front spoiler, and that the rear bumper cover had the S on it. I also noticed that there were cooling/air flow slits behind the rear wheels, facing rearward. I don't know the older models so well, but I thought it looked like it had some mild fender flares.

It also had the rear, independent fog light. I don't know if that is a clue or not.

Also, the front fog/parking and rear lights seemed small, like they had a white decal overlay on them that matched the body color.

I looked at a Toyota that had a similar arrangement. I was told by the salesman that studies were done that people learning how to drive found it better to look to the sides for their instruments than to look through the wheel.


I thought that was BS, personally.

Ah the Toyota Echo - My friend had a new one a few years ago. It was a terrible car to ride in and worse to drive. Having the speedo in the middle of the dash is very annoying. My friend said he never go used to it. He hated the car and got rid of it quick.

An upgraded 1980 928 from Carelli had this done to the rear valance/bumper cover.

The Carelli also had the wiremesh BBS style wheels.

I don't think they came in chrome... but the thin anodized layer wears off and they get shint. :D

Anyway, that's an 86.5 or earlier rear bumper. I have no doubt of that. To me, the difference is obvious even in a small, blurry pic. I doubt that many people put the earlier bumper on a later car.

That would be the one! I was helping my parents look for a car...I talked them out of that real quick! Some Minis also have the speedo in the center (optional satnav screen or whatever puts it back in the "proper" place).
