I was never really sure how I ended up with 928s until a few years ago when I was going through my old magazines. Just for the heck of it, I decided to read up on 928s in my old Road & Tracks.

As I read the glowing reviews, I was transported back to my teenage days, and my vow of someday owning a 928.

When you step from a Ford truck into a 928 for that first blast down the road, those words still ring pretty true.

I used to be into sportbikes for 10 years, then I had my first child. I wanted to still have a hobby but still be somewhat responsible . I thought a car to tinker with that has a back seat so I could put a child seat in would be the way to go. I looked at 80's cars seeing as that was when I was a teenager, Mustang 5.0, 300ZX's were on my short list. I started noticing a few 928's in the classifieds and sparked my interest. Bought the second one I went to look at, probably didn't get the best deal in the world but I am happy with her. I really like the fact that it doesn't look like everything else on the road and still turns heads wherever it goes.

For many years I had been spending over fifty percent of my time jetting off to one country or another on business, though last year I landed a long term contract that allows me to work from home and the travel has slowed down to a crawl.

The wife, noticing how itchy I was getting, suggested that I get a personal hobby such as a classic car that I had been wanting for years. I started looking at 50s and early 60s corvettes though soon realized that unless I wanted to become a full time mechanic, it was going to cost me over $30K just to get started.

I spent late evenings browsing online ads and doing research when I came across a wonderful 84 guards red 928 at a high end classic car dealer. The car was in complete original condition and had been babied all its life. Low mileage and was just stunning both in and out. I gave it a test drive and was in love.

A few months before I went to the Porsche Dealer and was looking at the various new models, though ended up with a new Benz 300C Sport 4Matic for everyday and winter driving.

In the end, this has worked out perfectly, the 928 is my weekend driver in the summer and has required just enough work that it keeps me on my toes. With a two car garage, the wife’s car has been banned to street parking; seems she did not think her suggestion thru very well.

Was searching for 5 speed Euro's 16v 928's for the better part of 3 months. I found my Euro 928s on craigslist...It was 30 miles from my home. It was owned by a Guy who had a whole garage full of race cars. He was going to turn it into a track car, but a buddy who worked on his race team was owed $ so he gifted it to him. The car was torn appart....parts in boxes, interior torn out......pretty much just the long block , TT, & trans in it. It took a year to get it on the road and once I had problems with the FI I was ready to sell it but now....
