DFW Caravan to Sharks in the Mountains
Less than one month to departure. The plan for the DFW folks ( six cars, seven owners at last count) and anyone else from south or west Texas is as follows:
Thursday, June 2nd, meet in the WalMart parking lot on Hwy 30 and Broadway (exit #59) in Garland TX. Walmart is on the Northwest corner, behind a McDonalds. It's approximatly 2 miles east of Hwy 635 on the east side of Dallas. Everyone meet at 8:00am for a planned departure of 9:00am. Besides the McDonalds, there is a Sonic and a Pancake House as well as two gas stations for those who need breakfast or gas.
Bring a spare key, full tank of gas and FRS radio, if you have them. I will have one spare radio if someone needs it. The plan is to do about 600 to 700 miles on Thursday; that will get us into Banner Elk in plenty of time for the festivities. Total milage is almost 1100 miles each way. I have maps of the route and have both a major highway and a back road route layed out. If we make good time we can do some of the more interesting roads.
Anyone from south or west Texas that wants to join us is welcome. Several of the group have offered a spare bedroom to make meeting up a little easier and cheaper. Respond if your interested.
