I'm pretty confident that the answer for guys like me is to not sell, and just park them and dry freeze them till the daily driver is destroyed, at which point I can unwrap, thaw and drive another 400 thousand miles of fun

I think one of the questions from a prospective bidder on BC's car on eBay is telling. The question was about the cost of the maintenance performed by BC.

Those with money to afford to pay someone to maintain a 928 are also going to be considering newer cars with more hp and more features. Those who are willing to fix the 928 themselves are looking for deals.

There just doesn't seem to be a strong demand for 928s, which decreases the prices. Of course many 928 owners wouldn't have their 928s if that weren't true...

In all reality, the reason most OBs sell for so little, is because they are in pretty crappy shape. When I went looking for my car, I found so many 928s with tons of leaks, ratty, nasty interiors, and not very good paint, etc... Those are the OBs that fetch $3,500-$5,000. The problem is that they set the value because there are more ratty OBs than really clean ones. The only reason I paid more for mine, was by comparison. I was *very* curious about the $5,000 OBs I saw in ads. Because I figured it would leave me more money for upgrades. But once I saw them, and drove them, it was obvious those cars were piles of crap. So when I found one that was nice, I was willing to pay the extra few thousand, to have a good one... So yes, I think it will be a matter of waiting for the right buyer...

Just a quick update, letting you guys know it's now on Ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...545386347&rd=1

Last chance for a Rennlister to get it, before it goes to some newbie...

Yeah, I realized that, but now that the car has bids, e-bay won't let me change the listing...

Grrrrr...

I'll change it to a lighter grey if I end up having to relist it...

Well, it's sold...

To a guy with a decent collection of cars out in Arizona.
So it's going to a good home.

I told him about Rennlist, so hopefully he will join.

I'll still be here on the board, since I love to check out the progress on everyone's cars.
And I will be back in a badass 928 eventually.

Congrats on your sale, BC. I've been watching...with curiousity. I too have put quite a wad of cheese into my ride...mostly as of late.
I know you have mixed emotions about it. Glad to hear it went to a good home.

Yeah... I think he will take good care of it...

A lot of long, straight roads out there... Good 928 stomping grounds...
