Question Pirelli P Zero C

I have just taken delivery of a pair of 245/45/16 for the rear. Although I have a track day coming up, they will also be used on the road. I will be using standard ContiSports on the front. Any thoughts?

Default These tyres are soft!

One tyre is new, the other is used (about 1mm less than new). The surface of the used tyre is actually molten. I've never seen such as soft tyre before!

Be careful if you drive a mixed set with street tires up front and R-compounds in the rear, they will not take heat the same way and you might get some wierd grip balance. I run these on the turbo Cup and they work well and they take some abuse to overheat.

My thoughts would be:

With street tires on the front and R-compounds on the rear, the car could have oversteer for the first lap, then transition to big understeer as you do more laps. R-compounds don't grip too well until they get some heat in them.

How old are these P-Zero C's? I thought Pirelli discontinued them a couple years ago and moved on to the P-Zero Corsas. Have these tires been sitting on a shelf somewhere, aging into gripless rocks? Take it easy out there until you figure out what the car is going to do.
