HELP! Broken Cam Cover Spacer on my 86
Well.....In the process of removing my Cam Covers to re-seal and powder coat, I broke two of the famous poorly designed spacers under the cam cover on my 86. The only threads I have found say....removal of the engine is required to get the broken studs out. Has anyone "fixed" this issue without removing the engine? The two I broke are: Top front drivers side. This should not be any issue....since I plenty of room. The other...different story. Passenger side bottom at strut housing. I have 3 inchs of space between broken bolt and strut housing. I found a 90 degree air craft drill attachment that allows for working in a 2 inch clearance area. The tool can withstand up to 2500 RPMs. So has anyone fixed this problem without removing the engine? Did you use a 90 degree tool.....or use JB weld to attached the brken stud back to the head.. OR Do I need to get ready to bend over on an engine removal?

There has been some recent discussion about a new source for these bolts, I believe.
Perhaps someone can provide additional insights on removal of broken ones.
