Intersting intake on 83 for sale on ebay

after seeing my filter on single runs on the track, i would hate to think where that handful of sand would go on this set up!!!
also, where the heck is his AFM? think this is some special air flow meter conversion?
Nice intake tubes thogh. maybe they just tap into the AFM with some adapter plate.
check it out

I think he used to have twin K&N cone filters at the front of the engine...
But on this race car setup, he has taken them off.
I did not know he was selling the car though.
I wonder why.
He put a lot of $$$ and work into getting all those CF parts made...

lots of race car run without filters, however, they generally dont have intake at the very front of the car. as I said , after a session, espeically in traffic, ill dump out a handful of sand and race rubber that enters to the front of the car. AND, i still have 50% of my air being fed from the cleaner area of the base of the windshield!! when i dump out my KN filter after each session, i say, "boy, im glad al that didnt get into my engine!!" I think i would be inclined to run filterless, if i took all my air from the base of the windshield. 911s, take their air from the rear deck lid, so they sometimes run only screens in the race cars.

hey everyone, yes im selling the car im kinda tired of the old girl and i want to start a new project but im just not sure what. As for the intake lets start front to rear. Filters are used for the street which i mount into the original intake openings atleast until i was done designing what was really in the plan. As for the AFM, as you can see from the pic its still there with a new mount for the intake and i had my metal guy design a thin bracket the looks similiar to the shape of the bottom of the airbox with all 4 mounts.

Tim,
yes you have seen that style hood on ebay since the company that made mine kept my mold and made others, The scoop in the hood has a opening a couple of inches back from the top of the radiator. On the cold days you can see the heat coming from the opening

That intake is very cool . I was only dreaming of doing something like that with my old 84, but i think the reality of it, is that the stock inlet is pretty darn good with its bell mouthed inlet in that big oversized air box. (great porsche design) then, with some venting to the rear, you get all the air that little AFM can flow. the key would be mounting that trick inlet system to a MAF!
