oil temp question
Does anyone have an oil temp gauge on their car? I am curious what the oil temp is when car is in normal drivling situation? By that I mean, on a freeway driving 70-80 mph, or cruising around in city traffic with oil pressure and water temp at normal levels.
I alkso would like to ask the same question of the guys who race the 16V motors what their oil temp usually runs during a race?
Thanks in advance

in my 2 valve 5 liter part euro , i was hitting 260+ in heated battles on the track on very warm days,
and i was using the stock euro type oil cooler in the radiator. normal driving, it would be close to 190 and that was about it.
the interesting thing was that it sure took a long time for the oil to come to temp, even when water got to between the white lines.

I recently troubleshot a nonflowing radiator which turned out to be a captive thermostat valve, as a result of a severely corroded inner thermostat seal. It was very surprising to experience a radiator that was HOT from both end tanks (more so from the passenger side as a result of the top hose of course) but cold in the centre. The oil gets hot, very hot, and it didn't take long at all in my case.
