Default Corvette for 928

Here's the deal. Some kid rolled up to my house in a 1987 Corvette with the 4+3 manual trans. Burgundy with grey int, 116k, trans just rebuilt. It was nice. The only thing I didn't like about it was the flowmaster exhaust. Needless to say he wanted the Euro in the worst way. I'm undecided but figure a Vette & a 928 isn't all that bad? Fire away !

Trade an '83 928 _EURO_ S 5-speed with 300 hp for a 1987 C4 vette with what? 250hp? (Don't know my pre-C5 'vette lore...)

Did you drive the C4?

Dave,
I didn't drive the Vette. We just bs'd and left it at that. I'm thinking if the engine ever goes in the 88 i'm dropping the 350 in it. The engine is easy to work on, parts galore available & able to make bookoo hp. I tried pushing the 88 on him but he'd have none of that.

I agree, a shark and a Vette ain't bad. But why not go ahead and sell the '87 you've already got listed, then sell or trade whichever remaining shark you don't want to keep (sounds like you'd prefer to keep the Euro), then buy a newer or better Vette?

Then, of course, after you've had the Vette a year or so, you'll want to trade it back for another shark.

Bigs . . . I'm keeping a shark. When I get tired of the Vette which probably won't be long I'll have the 88. The memories of how cramped the cabins are (claustophobia small) and what little room there is to even get your wallet out of you back pocket, lead me to say i'll think about it. hmmmmmm

What makes you think the engine is going bad in the '88?

You car is ten times the car that '87 vette is.

Adam . . . I bought the 88 in Sept. Drove it home from Cali (Sharktoberfest weekend) and it has no paper work (maintenance) at all. I'm only saying that (engine swap) is because (Joe's gonna love this )I still haven't checked the timing belt yet. I know I know no need to flame, I get enuf grief from Joe already.

H . . . I haven't done anything stupid yet.

My daily driver before the 928 was a 1992 Vette, 6 speed. I drove it for two years...bumpy, creeky, sometimes leaking (rain into the cabin)...with lots of low end torque. I got rid of the Vette to get the 928 and have never looked back. Been driving the shark for four years and love it now as much as ever.
As Bigs said, if you really want to add a Vette to the collection...get a newer one.
Decisions, decisions...

Right. But your sig. says you've got three sharks. Sell two of them and get a newer, better Vette. Keep the shark you like best.

Hmmmm. Corvette for Shark. Carnac the Magnificent says I see a whole lot of regret in your future.

J/K - your choice. If you think there is likely to be anyone on here that is going to agree with the trade though......

I think Carnac would trade since Johnny always drove a Corvette.

Derek . . . I'm not in the market for a Vette. I'm happy with the 928. Who wouldn't be? Fast, roomy & a joy to drive.

Warren . . . No regrets in my future. I'm going to pass on the Vette. I'm getting a headache just thinking about how cramped the cockpit is.
