funny nicole, but ive heard that exact same argument stated here. porsche production managers who point out the fact that the 928 and especialy the S4 didnt need any rear spoiler at all as it didnt generate any lift, do you recall who was saying this?

I don't know who said that. I've never seen any wind tunnel data beyond what's in the brochures, based on the center of the car. No lift or downforce numbers - only cd, which clearly tell that the spoilers make a difference in air flow. I also know that there was a service bulletin from Porsche that required both front and rear spoilers to be mounted - not just one. You would not pass German vehicle inspection with just either.
I've said it many times before: my S4 is the least cross wind sensiive car I have ever driven. If I cross the Bay and feel the cross wind in the 928, I just have to go a little faster. Around 85-90mph the car becomes stable as if it was going on rails. My Saab would fly off the road in that situation and speed, the '86 RX-7 that I had in Germany would need two to three lanes...
I would not mess with such aerodynamics, unless I really knew what I was doing!

Thanks for posting those pics rixter. I am sure that my trim is ok. Someone just put on the s-spoiler I guess. If anyone is looking at getting an s-spoiler let me know cause I have one for sale.

Most likely your trim once was black...
There is a special trim paint you can buy at auto parts or paint stores. It has this kind of semi-gloss finish that you typically see on new trim.
Alternatively, you can buy the new plastic trim pieces for the rear quarters. I don't recall how much they were, but I don't think they were very expensive. I needed new ones after the window tinters melted some pieces...
