Well, since this was a Euro, and was privately imported into the USA sometime around 1980 .. I wonder if it has those options? Also, I wonder if the various pulling in and out of various console parts cause all of the mis fitting.

I don't know what colors will look good with the interior colors. I got the royal oxford wood grain (navy interior) from Jager for Christmas, but can't put it in until it warms up for awhile.

When you mentioned dying the seats, are you considering any other colors or cleaning up the current color? Looks like we may need to have a southeast interior party!!

Hey now! Interior party! Now there is an idea. A good one too...

Right now I am looking at the following steps -- I want to keep the original interior colors:

1. Pulling carpets, seats, headliner, door panels, dash and console
2. Super clean of interior, including repainting
3. Using the Leatherique kit to deep clean all leather and patch cracks
4. Re-stitching and tightening all stitched seams
5. Making a new headliner and replacing the old including backer
6. Re-engraving controls with precision laser system (go to www.epiloglaser.com for info on the laser system)
7. Fix everything behind the console and dash so I don't have to do it again

Any ideas, recommendations, etc?

Oh, here's some cracks to fill .....

That does sum up my teenage years. Actually, that's so accurate, it's eerie.

Do all guys experience EXACTLY the same childhood?

Well, "I was told" (you know phrase should really start with "Hell, I don't know!" .... that it is the sensor for the climate controlled air conditioning. But I wasn't aware that the 1978 Euro has Eine Klimaanlaage mit automatischere dingles, so my answer is:

"I Don't Know Either"!

Maybe once I look behind it I will find a secret camera system.

Cheers,

Dave

It is a miracle that I am still alive after my teenage years.

I wish I still had the pictures of me and my 1950 Kaiser street rod in the San Diego High School Auto Body Shop. You talk about your reform school greaser ... whew.

Oh and the really big surprise is how in the world did I ever get a top secret clearance for 30 years?

Now THAT is scary.

Cheers,

Dave

My brother-in-law was reading a book on raising boys since he has 2. Basically said if you can keep them alive until they're 20, your're golden.

You've definitely got your work cut out for you.

Long ago, when my friends first met my wife, they loved to tell her stories about me. All these stories seemed to have the same moral. As they put it, "You can break him, you just can't kill him."

Hayden (the little guy in my avatar) loves his toy power tools, and has a little battery powered motorcycle he zooms around the house on. I love the idea of someday giving him this 928. Then I stop and think about what I did with cars when I was a kid.

I guess I'll give it to him when he's 35.

Or maybe 45...

I have a nice black leather centre console for your car. It has no little temp sensor at the top, and it will fit your dash properly ie not leave that huge gap. I did cut the clock area out to make way for an S4-style clock, but that all sits behind the face plate so if you wanted to not use an S4 clock but the original, you could easily do that.

Let me know.

You are doing the right thing. He will be a little wrench! BTW, my favorite uncle's name was Hayden (Young Hayden Mann), named after my paternal grandmother's maiden name (Mary Molly Hayden).

Here's a picture of our little guy (oldest of four) his squad was preparing to blow up a couple of million pounds of Saddam's Oil for Food purchases .....
