The 928 is to heroin as ________ is to methadone (pics added!)
OK... So I FINALLY got everyhthing back together last night. Here the list of stuff done so far this winter,
Put the lug nuts on last night at 10:30pm. Hooked up the battery, and it fired right up! Yippe!
So I took it out for a 30 minute drive. Kept it under 110 mph Car handles very well (still need to get an alignment). I also noticed the shifting improved witht he flush of the hydraulics. BONUS! Still can't down shift worth a darn though. Oh well.
My biggest problem is that I want drive the beast again today! But as **** would have it, it's fricken snowing again! So far I've got about 5".
I swear the 928 is addictive as hell - hence the title. So what's a boy to do when he can't take part of his favorite vice? I'm jonsin' and I need a fix. Is there anythign that will let me down slowly? (Sorry no snomobiles here! - Already thought of that.).
I suppose I could always...

Well done Andrew,
I'm working my way a long list of things to do as well.
No big hurry since we have around 12-15 inches of snow here as well.
Just in the process of painting my front calipers, left one almost done.
Also just won a big fight against left front spring adjuster nut that did not want to move at all:-)
Thats my major achievement this weekend.
(involved takong the entire strut out and apart)
Cheers/Peter

The 928 is to heroin as Ford Tempo is to methadone - perhaps. I've only experienced one out of the four (although opium is rather interesting), but my gf assures me that a Tempo does nothing other than get you from a to b in the least exciting way possible.

Wow! That's an impressive list of stuff. But one of the items surprised me: the peinted splash shields. What did you paint them with, and why was cleaning not enough? I have a hard time imagining that any paint would last on those.

I painted my splash shields when I did my calipers about 3 years ago. It was pretty easy overall, just mask everything off carefully. I painted the shields, the calipers, and the edge of the disc itself.
If you look carefully at the picture, you can see the shield. It's easy to clean, just wipe it with a rag while spraying water.
I used genuine Krylon paint: $1.95 at Wal-mart.
N!
[Andrew you're right: its far more fun to drive the car than work on it! That's why the edge of my disc shows some rust...!]

The aluminum was quite pitted and stained. I had seen someone else here on the list had painted theirs and it looked nice. I just cleaned them with steelwool and the primed and painted with gloss black "automotive" paint. Have no idea about longevity, but I thought what the hell since I had them off. Like I said... I'll post pics later... just can't right now because of the snow and all.
