What are option codes 718, XY5 and 10141?

Brian I went through that and had some bad experiences. The leather has to be stitched properly and the underlying a-pillar is so soft and has to be so precise to fit the dash that it ends up being a real headache. I do appreiate your suggestion

Having just been through importing an interior from Europe, I have to say that first of all, give yourself a lot of time. It took approx. 3 months to have my interior shipped from England to LA, clear customs, and get reshipped to Utah. Of course, the car was being stripped and rebuilt anyways, so it is downtime anyways. Since you are also buying basically sight unseen, except for maybe photos, there is risk involved. My interior is being reinstalled as we speak, and is full leather everything, dash, pod, console, a pillars...... quite droolworthy. I would post pics, but they all seem to be too large of files and I don't know how to resize.

How to Explain? Porsche made 466 US 1994 MY 964 Turbos the first 288 were 1993 models with engine and tranny serial numbers using a "P'" code the balance of the cars were made for 1994 with engine and tranny using an R code. Since all the US 1994 3.6Turbos were manufactured in 1993 and were sold as 1994 models the first 288 had motors and trannys (P code) from the 1993 lot of cars and the remaining had 1994 R coded motor and trannys. This M718 code allowed the factory to redesignate the vin number as a 1994 MY instead of a 1993 MY. This all screwy since none of the 1994 turbos were made or sold in 1994. I beleive they all came over seas in 1993.

Crazy huh!! A lot of this was done by the factory especially around 1994 to use up all the old parts lying around too get rid of inventory so they could move onto the new way of doing business in 1995. I believe this is also the case with the 1976 914's. I believe these cars were all 1975's that were just reasigned new vin #'s to make them 1976 MY cars.

You may check your engine and tranny serial numbers to see if they reflect the previous years code number.

Interesting. I think the red 93 GTS (early model) that I just sold had the 718 option code. Makes sense since Porsche built the 1993 928 GTS for two model years.

More than in USA but most as in more than 50% of yearly production is certainly too much, except maybe in '95.
