Default Royal Purple in pre 84 5sp

Time to change the MTM fluid. I was using the Redline 75-90w but it's rated at GL4. Royal Purple is rated at GL5, OEM. Anyone have any expierence using RP? Does 1-2 shift improve?

I've got Royal Purple in my '79 5 spd. Most noticeable difference was shifting when cold. It was not a huge impovement though.

What do you guys think is the best transmission oil for an early model with limited slip? I'd like for the shift characteristics to be a little better when the car is cold.

Regards,

Ken
