Unplug it and start the car if it idles and it should ,then the mass air is bad ! or send it to me and I will put it on one of our cars....

Any tests you see in the workshop manuals will only detect a totally failed MAF. The unplug test also only detects total MAF failure. The diagnostics are limited in what they can reveal about a badly aged MAF, because you are looking for errors of just a few %.
Best way to check a MAF is in another car, or on a test jig like the one I have built and calibrated.
The symptoms you describe sound more like a badly aged MAF than a total failure.

OR...borrow a known 'good' one and install it and see how she runs. I have a spare that I have loaned to a couple of folks, just for this purpose. I'd be happy to let you try it, but I am sure that someone in the SoCAl group has one they'd let you try.
