Happy new year 2005 to all of you

The navigation which exists in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Swedish, Finland. It covers the whole Europe or the United States.

In French, German and English screenshots.

View of the first screen when starting the system, in the beggining i thought about adding some effects like animation or music but if it could be amusing the first times it could be boring so i decided to let it simple and silent.

There was a recent post in which knock sensors and the staged retard of particular cylinders was discussed and debated. It might be helpful to have a voice announce "knock detected in cylinder X, retarding by 3 degrees," as well as "knock eliminated, advancing by 3 degrees" or some derivative as well as announcing limp mode (6 deg retard) if the Hall sensor or knock sensors fail.

That would be especially helpful for the SC folks who have more to worry about in this respect, esp. with 91 octane gas out here in CA...

thank you for the suggestion and sorry for the late reply, this can be easy to achieve, if it's really usefull i can add this feature. I planned in the very begining to set this for the 944 but the 928 should work on the same principles.

ouch it was not easy installation, everything is very compact and the space which can be used is not so wide in my 944. Ok the screen could be embedded inside the dashboard but i kept in mind that's a retrofit so i obey to rules i assigned to myself (at least for my car).
The car must remain as original, no cutting, no holes, nothing must be destructive and easily reversible.
For at least two reasons, the day i want to sell my car i won't sell my system with it or some people dislike this kind of equipment so the car could lose value only because cutted dash or whatever other parts.

Anyway the screen can be moved up or down or even be unmounted if needed, it is mounted on rails.

Screenshots of the video mode with the movie "Le Mans" and few 917 appearing.

for finish the spectrum analyser video, it can be still or rotate on any axis while running.
http://www.9xx-cars.com/mov02764.mpg around 3 Mb

Tomorrow it remains me to make the first tries in real situtation inside the car, it could be done now but i have no light source to finish the wiring for now.

Finally inside
i was looking forward for this moment but and as i want to make this in the most serious possible way i delayed the inclusion of the computer aboard.
I plan to make a standard fixation system so it will take me maybe one day or more to build what i think about.

Better view isn't it ?

Kraft-
Excellent work. I am looking forward to your next steps.
How is the monitor affixed to the console?

Thank you

Well it's easy.
First it is needed to unmount the box under the radio place. Once unmounted you can see one horizontal metallic separator.
I made two metallic plates perforated on each end, it is designed to support a kind of kneecap (don't know if the translation is ok ?).
Now imagine one plate under this horizontal separation and the other over. One screw on each end with bolts.
Screwing the plates will make them pressure the metallic separation like a grip. It remains to screw the kneecap on the plates and adjust it to the desired angle.
Last put back the plastic box at it's original place, put the screen on it's rails and it's done.

So the car is untouched as original and the screen is fixed well. The vibrations are totaly neutralized because the screen is laying partially on the dash so it's steady.
I hope my explanations are clear i'm not sure about this

While waiting for the building of the docking system, i made quickly a holster to keep the computer
aboard in safety....the truth is that i can't wait no more for my docking system i ordered and i'm looking forward to play with my system.

The cpu in his holster.

3 main wires and 2 jacks of 3.5 mm you can't see on picture, one for the sound the other for power supply.

The holster sitting in his place

And finally as you see there's nothing to see except that i should use vacuum cleaner after setting the system inside

This car hasn't been hurt in no way, no drill holes, no cutting in metal. The holster is litteraly plugged on the car's hull borders you can find at rear and the aluminium is "plugged" in using force.

What could i say more, simply indicate the place you want to go anywhere in Europe (in this configuration) and let the system drive you to the destination.
I tried to confuse the gps but no way, this little intelligent thing reconsiders the path and chooses another one at once

Sorry the pics are not so sharp as i was driving while taking pictures.

now the overall view i cleaned the inside so now i can't be ashamed

and as you see there's really nothing inside the glove box

Kraft,

Will there be a display option that will fit in a double-DIN sized space? I would like to be able to mount the display flush with the console, and anything larger than double-DIN wouldn't fit with the climate controls and the central command (a/c (!) and door lock) panel. The 7 inch screen is beautiful, but I don't think it will fit right in the 928.

Don't worry about the screen mine is only for show purpose and of course the screen can be in DIN radio format motorized or not, this is up to you to chose what you prefer

The system is on a way to manage communications inside the car. I plan to add asap one tri-band GPRS modem which will allow to fetch mails and be red by the voice synthesis and in addition to that one very light internet browser embedded in the interface. This should allow you to get wheater conditions previsions, road condition (accidents, closed roads) or even let passengers browse the web

The only thing delaying this is just for me to buy this modem and add bits and pieces of code
