Default hatch spoiler

i have a 1986.5- 928 with the s spoiler. i kinda like the classic look without the spoiler so today i removed it - looks real nice !
question i need to fill some holes along the rear hatch glass -- is there a retro fit plastic trim for this purpose.
thank you

You just reduced the aerodynamic efficiency of your car by 10%. Expect your freeway gas mileage to drop accordingly. You might also experience a little more lift in the rear - with the front spoiler still in place that might result in more oversteer at high speeds.

Best of luck!

jim at 928 int is very clued up with the particular parts you need to complete this transition. from my own experience with this, there are a series of fatory clips which will poke thrrough the existing hatch glass holes onto which the new trim can be clipped. use some sealant on the clips as you install.

i found the lack of downforce noticeable and added a new rear wing which helped tremendously.

spoke to JIm from 928 intl he says the wing does not add any signifiant downforce.

under 70 you wont notice it much if at all. but going over that and cornering you will appreciate the enhanced stability of a rear wing, IMO.

Well, I have heard there was a service bulletin by Porsche that stated the front and rear spoilers need to be mounted in pairs - meanint that if you only have one, it throws the car out of balance.

Porsche is very particular about these things. An example is that the front spoilers of the 996 C4S and turbo are different, because of the different rear wings.

Porsche has its own wind tunnel in Weissach and does a lot fo detail work there. It is doubtful that you or Jim can match that in your garage.

Very possible. I'm going to do the same thing, I prefer a pretty car as opposed to one with .00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 000000000000000000000009 mpg better fuel efficiency.
