Default WOT switch

I was recently checking the throttle cable and noticed alot of slack. With the pedal pushed to the floor, the throttle body was only opened 3/4. While doing the adjustment, I noticed a switch at the throttle body assembly that would be switched if the throttle was wide open. I didn't get the cable adjusted to hit this switch. Does the rotor assembly need to hit this switch when the car is WOT? I pushed it with the car at idle, and the engine would die. Which makes sence. I just thought maybe this was some kind of safety kill switch possibly. I did some searching, but only found info on the switch under the gas pedal. Any info would be great!

I assume the throttle body and the two micro switches are the same for autos as 5-sps: The lower one, contacted just before the idle stop, cuts fuel flow sufficiently to allow engine brakeing, etc. The upper is the WOT enrichment circuit, and must close (with a 'click' ) as throttle is applied .... so you are correct - the cable and switch must be adjusted to get the switch to close slightly before ~1/2 throttle, or ~ 30 deg. There is a chapter in the WSW dealing with the exact set-up. - 24-14.

Thanks Garth,
The cable had so much slack in it that it wasn't even toggling the switch. Now that I've got it adjusted, its hitting about half throttle.
Thanks
