Is there an on-line registration like last year? I can't seem to locate it anywhere.

We had problems with the one last year, but had intended to have another this year. I need to get with Dan and get that up and running. Thanks Randy!

Just an update for the Sunday, Petersen Automotive Museum portion of Sharktonberfest.

The exhibits will include:

"French Curves" as previously mentioned. If you love the art of the automobile (you own a 928, so you should) this will blow your socks off!

"Vacationland USA", SUV's, to Airstreams and Woodies, a look at how manufacturers contoured vehicles for the vacationer.

"Hot wheels Hall of Fame", if you are a Hot Wheels freak, this is the center of the unvierse just short of the Hot Wheels factory. 1000+ cars and life size remakes on display.

"Hollywood Stars Cars", a good look at what the silver screen type own.

"Bruce Meyer's collection of personal Hot Rods", this guy is a local and one of the nicest guys in the hobby. He has an incredible amount of cars to his collection.

For full details, definately go to The Petersen Automotive Museum .

This is going to be a GREAT day for Sharktoberfest. You simply have to make sure you are there on Sunday and not just Saturday or you will SURELY miss out!!!

I understand that Dan Bise and Keith Widom have spent much of this afternoon at the Holiday Inn of Diamond Bar going over more of the details for the Friday evening Oct 22 reception and the Saturday evening banquet/ party. Already over twenty rooms have been reserved ( I have one set aside myself) because I already know what "bad influences" some of these people can be . Everyone involved with Sharktoberfest is trying to get a handle on just how many cars and people will be attending this year. So less than one month away Oct 22-23-24 th.

Keith, I'm good with anything, really... Again, just need clean water. I see that the hotel is owned by a fellow 928 owner. Maybe he could leave a hose out for us?

CAR WASHING is taken care of. The host hotel has supplied us with a designated 928 area. We will have access to hoses and will supply buckets, sheep skin washing pads and car wash soap. We will try to supply rags/towels, but DO NOT, and I repeat, DO NOT use the hotel towels....PLEASE! It might be best to bring your own towels if you can.

Dan and I just finished a logistics meeting for the weekend and we will soon be posting more details of what will occur that weekend. A pre registration site will be in place very soon.

Stay tuned!

Hey Randy, I just put this year's registration form up this morning. It's the same URL as last year actually. To get there directly:
Shakrtoberfest Registration

It's also available at the top of the usual Sharktoberfest Information Page:
Sharktoberfest Information

And just to echo what Jim said - yes, we're trying to get a good headcount this year since we anticipate a much larger group. Go ahead and please register to help us with the planning effort in these final weeks.

By the way, if you have already faxed back the hardcopy mailer that was sent out, there's no need to register electronically. You're all set. Thanks!

Hey, this is gonna be fun, eh?

I am now officially registered and booked.

The lady at the hotel told me they only have smoking rooms left. Also, I asked about staying a day longer, and the rate for additional days would be $105/night. The lady suggested talking to her manager and see, if I could get the event rate for additional days also.

Thanks for the report, Nicole. I'm looking into seeing what can be done about extended stays.

I just called the number listed at http://groups.msn.com/socal928/sharktoberfest.msnw and the guy I talked to only seemed to understand some "preferred rate" thing. He had no idea what I was talking about; none of the following seemed to ring any sort of bell with him: "Porsche Club", "Rennlist", "socal928", "$69"

I guess I better call back during the day.

Sorry to hear that, Dave! I spoke to a lady who was able to look this up in her system. She just told me she could not make any decision for the rates on days prior or after the event.

Glad to hear you are coming also!

The guy I taked to was apparently part of the night crew and -- just a guess mind you -- almost certainly not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to their reservation apparatus. He obviously had no idea what I was talking about... didn't get the memo or whatever... and I saw no point in further frustrating either of us. I feel confident that if I contact them during regular business hours it will be a trivial thing to sort out.

Yeah, I'll be there for sure. Looks like we'll have a pretty good turnout from the bay area. When are you heading down? It's looking like I'll hit the road Friday AM but I haven't completely ruled out a Thursday PM departure. I'll be heading back Sunday evening.
